UNDERSTANDING ASTROLOGY IN A SIMPLE AND SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE

Astrology mentions of twelve zodiacs that create a birth chart along with planets. This blog will explain you how to visualize these twelve zodiacs. In fact, Vedic Astrology also talks about twenty-seven constellations and this blog will also explain about their deep seated significance. Let’s begin…

All bodies whether living or non-living contract and expand due to different weather conditions. As weather gets warm, we expand and as it gets colder, we contract. Since twelve months of the year created by earth’s revolution in a tilted axis around Sun, creates different seasons, this happens all the time in our bodies. During winters, we experience that our body fluids including blood and lymph, move inside the core of the body which is why we notice dryness on our skin during cold weather conditions. Obviously, the reverse happens during summers when our skin becomes oily and we feel less hungry due to more blood towards the peripherals and less towards core. Since, all these weather changes happen in a gradual manner, blood and other body fluids (Rasa in Ayurveda), move in and out of the body in a gradual manner thereby creating different layers exactly in accordance with the changing weather conditions. Each of these layers carries a specific wiring in accordance with the weather it gets exposed to, which gradually changes to another wiring with changing weather conditions due to earth’s rotation. Thus, the twelve zodiacs represent nothing but the twelve layers of our body (and mind).

*** In Ayurvedic language, these layers carry permutations and combinations of different doshas called Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

The interesting part is that this contraction and expansion not only happens due to solar cycle but also due to lunar cycle and even daily rising and setting of Sun. This is because Sunrise increases warmth in the weather thereby expanding us and Sunset reduces it thereby triggering the cycle of contraction in the body thereby creating these layers inside our body on daily basis too. Likewise, since moon pulls our bodily fluids due to its gravitational pull, it also creates expansion and contraction thereby creating different layers every month which are called as constellations. That is how layers get created inside layers (or say zodiacs get created inside zodiacs which Astrology understands as divisional charts).

The figure here shows the birth chart of a person where he/she was born when zodiac number one which is Aries (that represents energies of Mars planet) was rising in the east thereby imparting Mars type wiring to the deepest layer of the person which is why it is called as the first house and thus the rising zodiac of the person in question. Being deepest, first house depicts the deepest constitution and the deepest personality of the person (or say deepest dosha in the language of Ayurveda). Similarly, the second house represents the energy of the second zodiac that the person faces which in above example has 2nd zodiac. Thus zodiacs also represent different layers of time with each timeslot having a different energy.

This also means that different layers of time/body also create different organs and traits associated with it. That is how different houses have been assigned different organs/traits as shown in the figure  below.

Now it is not necessary that every person’s first house will have the energy of first zodiac i.e. Aries. It is bound to differ from person to person e.g. the undermentioned example captures the birth chart of a person whose first house has 9th zodiac (the Sagittarius zodiac which has the energy of Jupiter planet). This is why this person’s deepest personality will have wiring akin to Jupiter (Kapha in Ayurvedic terms).

However, irrespective of what energy/zodiac lies in the first house, the next house in the anticlockwise manner will always have the energy of the next zodiac thereby ensuring a smooth expansion/ contraction of the body (outward as well as inward).  It is interesting to note that energies of different zodiacs placed in different houses complement each other for the right functioning of the body and mind. For example, Aries in first house represents that the inner most constitution of the person is full of expanding energy and for that this person needs lot of nutrition (rasa) that keeps nourishing and cooling the body. Interestingly, in such a person 4th house (which is the house of heart/nourishment/mother) will automatically have 4th zodiac too i.e. cancer which represents cold rasa (when rains cool down boy and nourish it) thereby complementing Aries the fierce energy of the first house. However, the problem comes when a zodiac is opposed by a wrong energy that suppresses that zodiac’s property thereby creating wrong layers in our body.

To understand this, we need to know a little about different planets. Now there are nine planets in Vedic Astrology that carry different energies and thus create different wiring of the body due to their direct gravitational pulls/electromagnetic fields. For example, Mars represents the inner strength with loads of hot Rasa (nutritional fluid crudely similar to lymph or interstitial fluid) wanting to spread itself and thus nutrition towards the peripherals of the body. It is exactly similar to the inner strength that sprouts out from the trees during the month of April (in Northern hemisphere) in form of leaves which is why it is called as spring season. In astrological language, spring season represents the energy of Aries zodiac. That is why Mars is said to be the owner of Aries zodiac as Aries zodiac represents the energy of Mars. Similarly, when 9th zodiac arrives then body gains fat due to cooling down as 9th zodiac arrives in mid Dec when the weather begins to get cold. And then comes next two months when weather becomes bitter cold thereby weakening our blood circulation. These months represent energies of Saturn as Saturn is a cold planet.

Here we must remember, that zodiacs and planets are two different energies created by different phenomenon/things in the Universe. While zodiac is created by earths revolution around Sun, planetary energies are created by direct influence of the planets. The problem comes when a specific zodiac in one’s chart faces the energies of a planet that suppresses that zodiac’s expression. For example, Aries zodiac represents expanding energy but if Saturn is seated there, it suppresses the expansion of that layer and thus the specific organ and chakra of the body thereby creating diseases. This in Astrological term is referred as debilitation. While the contemporary knowledge of Astrology talks of debilitation of planets, this example explains that not just the planet but even the zodiac gets debilitated thereby not letting itself express properly resulting in diseases (physical and/or mental).

All in all, a healer should work on the energy signatures of the native and native’s entire family by suggesting right remedies seen through the birth chart and other charts associated with birth chart (called divisional charts). Only then can we gradually (even though slowly) change the energy signatures of this world towards Satyuga.
