DISEASES/CHAOS- A SIDE EFFECT OF GLOBALIZATION AND HOW VEDIC SCIENCES CAN UNDO IT

This needs no reiteration that all deviations from one’s genetic make up (constitution) are likely to create health issues (both at mental and physical level). And with increasing globalization (both at large as well as small scale), such deviations have risen exponentially and we are drifting away from our natural food and lifestyle pyramid. At large scale, we are adopting food and culture from other countries without making necessary modifications in them basis our constitution and weather conditions. Unfortunately, it is nothing but mindless copying. This is one major factor that diseases are rising exponentially both at mental and physical level.

To give you an example, India being a hot country for most of the time around the year, should avoid excess use of stimulants and hot pungent foods/drinks. However invasions (which were part of globalization only even if forced) and invaders introduced such foods/drinks and slowly lured Indians to start consuming hot and Vata increasing spices and tea/coffee which were never part of Indian culture and never meant for this constitution/climate. This is the reason that India is becoming hypertension and heart disease capital of the world. Unfortunately, we can see its mental ramification too in terms of highly Rajasic and Tamasic minds leading to exponential surge in population, rigid compartmentalization of minds, increasing anger and resentment usually led by biased minds high on inertia. Globalization is not happening only at a large scale.

At small scale too, people of one state have migrated to another. Same goes with inter society interaction leading to mixing of genes/food/lifestyle/choices etc. All this has exponentially diversified individual and collective conscience leading to extreme entropy (Vata in Ayurvedic terms) in individual and collective systems which in absence of knowledge is becoming unmanageable. This is the reason that ancient cultures were against interracial and inter community marriages and used to insist matching the birth charts of the male and female even within same community as indirectly they were checking that when the two individuals will live together then how their individual constitution/upbringing/choices will affect the constitution/choice/health/happiness of each other and that of the coming generations. Goes without saying that a highly spiritual mind wouldn’t need match making because he/she would be able to read the signatures of the proposed match without even looking at the chart (or may be find one on his/her own) however this is extremely rare.

*** This is not to say that Globalization is bad. Globalization is an inevitable part of evolution of any civilization to homogenize the culture/environment, which initially (or temporarily) is bound to create issues till such time the conscience awakens (at individual as well as collective level) and learns to adapt and filter out good from bad and customize food/drinks and lifestyle for different constitution/ climate/ location etc. This is the reason I have used the word “temporary” surge due to globalization which subsequently will subside, once Vedic wisdom is adopted by all. Overall, the ancients knew that globalization is inevitable which leads us to the Vedic phrase- “Vasudeva Kutumbakam”- World is a family. The sooner we realize the deep meaning of this phrase and understand and embrace Vedic wisdom like Ayurveda, Yogasana, Pranayama, Astrology in true letter and spirit, the faster we shall be able to restore peace and prosperity and faster evolution of every individual and the world.

By the way, at grander level, this also means that earth’s conscience will sooner or later effect the conscience of the other planets (whether inhabited or not inhabited by living beings) and vice versa. And just the way humans from different continents could physically cross inter-continental barrier only after technology gave them capability in form of ships etc, same way there will come a day when technology will enable us to intermingle with the conscious beings from the other world taking globalization and “Vasudeva Kutumbakam” to another level. Dynamics will change, however, there will be only one thing that will not- The VEDIC WISDOM.
